The first part of the book is a translation of Lurie’s original memoir with extensive historic comments. The second part of the book serves as an exhibition catalogue along with accompanying texts. For greater historical context, two additional texts have been included in the publication: Boris Lurie's essay about the role of Italian diplomat Aldo Caradello in he and his father's survival in the Stutthof concentration camp, and Anita Kugler's essay about the controversial figure of Fritz Scherwitz, an S.S. Officer in Riga, Commander of Lenta factory where the father and son Lurie worked and struggled to survive during the war.
