RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEMORY. THE ROLE OF ART IN HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE.: United Nations Headquarters, New York, NY

Commemorative event for the exhibition Responsibility for Memory on 8 November 2023 on the 85th anniversary of the pogrom of 9 November 1938.

 

We have the honor to invite you to a special private guided viewing of the exhibition Responsibility for Memory. The Role of Art in Holocaust Remembrance at United Nations Headquarters.

 

Introduction to the exhibition by Maria Anna Potocka, Delfina Jałowik (MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow) and Jürgen Joseph Kaumkötter (Center for Persecuted Arts)

 

The exhibition is part of The Holocaust and The United Nations Outreach Programme's commemoration of the November 1938 pogrom and highlights the contemporary significance of art for the remembrance of the Holocaust. It presents three generations of artists: Teachers and students who experienced the Holocaust and another generation who also responded to it in their art.

 

Responsibility for Memory is an exhibition of the Museum Zentrum für verfolgte Künste (Center for Persecuted Arts), Solingen with Yad Vashem, Jerusalem in cooperation with the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow and the Boris Lurie Art Foundation, New York. Kindly supported by
