A Celebration of Life: Gertrude Stein 1927-2026 : Terrace Dedication at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, NYC
The Museum of Jewish Heritage has dedicated its second floor terrace to the memory of Gertrude Stein, who would have celebrated her 99th birthday on May 18th, 2026.
The dedication was accompanied by words from friends and family in celebration of Stein's legacy as a groundbreaking figure in the New York art world, who provided a critical outlet to emerging artists working in unconventional styles for well over half of a century. Her support of the NO!art group through Gallery: Gertrude Stein and her decades long partnership with Boris Lurie were critical to the preservation and promotion of NO!art and Lurie's work as creative and social forces of dissent and provocation, culminating in her founding of the Boris Lurie Art Foundation in 2010, of which she served as President for over fifteen years.
The Boris Lurie Art Foundation thanks the Museum of Jewish Heritage for establishing this permanent memorial to the legacy of Gertrude Stein.
